Car set on fire in early-morning incident in Belfast

Police are appealing for information after a car was set alight in the Stranmillis Embankment area of Belfast.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning.

Shortly after 7.15am it was reported a grey VW Polo which had been parked in the area was set on fire.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the blaze, but the inside of the car was totally destroyed.

Sergeant Jeffers said: "Anyone who has information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 162 13/02/18. Or, alternatively information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
