Car smashes into ambulance transporting patient to hospital before fleeing scene

A car has smashed into an ambulance taking a patient to hospital before fleeing the scene.

The ambulance was transporting a patient to Daisy Hill hospital in Newry shortly after 2.20pm when it was struck by a car.

The car then sped off.

The smash happened on the Sturgan Road, Camlough.

According to a spokesman for the ambulance service, additional emergency vehicles were sent to the scene to transport the patient and ambulance crew to hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be serious.
