Care worker is honoured
A care worker at a Newtownabbey-based hospice has picked up a prestigious award.
Gayle Lilly, Senior Health Care Assistant at Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice was presented with the 2010 Northern Ireland Support Worker Award at the Royal College of Nursing ceremony held last week at the Culloden Hotel.
Gayle, who works as part of the Children’s Hospice at Home Service, received the accolade for her successful introduction of play, art and music therapies as part of the holistic care of children at Hospice. Reflecting her ability to improve her knowledge and the service she provides, Gayle is currently studying the children’s palliative care multidisciplinary undergraduate module at Queen’s University.
Hilary Maguire, Clinical Services manager at the hospice, said: “Gayle is a well deserved recipient of this award and we are extremely proud of her achievements.”
