Carrickfergus security alert ends after nothing 'untoward found'
A security alert in Carrickfergus has ended.
A number of homes had been evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious object earlier on Thursday evening.
Police have now reopened Hartley Hall Green and Shannagh Avenue.
Inspector Julian Buchanan said: “Hartley Hall Green and Shannagh Avenue in Carrickfergus have reopened, following the discovery of an object in the area earlier this evening.
“The item turned out to be nothing untoward and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
“We would like to thank the community for their patience while we worked to keep people safe.”
