Casement Park stadium protesters call off sit-in
A sit-in protest at a GAA stadium over the future of its social club has ended.
Casement Park's social club has been at the centre of a bitter dispute over redevelopment work.
Members staged the protest after a fax was sent by the Antrim County Board to members of the social club on Friday demanding that they vacate the premises in the Belfast stadium by Monday.
This was despite previous guarantees that they would be given temporary accommodation while the rebuilding of the stadium was ongoing.
Casement Social Club (CSC) members vowed to occupy the building round-the-clock until the matter was resolved.
However, following a meeting with former GAA president Peter Quinn, the members have now called off their protest.
The agreement reached will see CSC remain in the current club until temporary accommodation is established.
A permanent home will then be established when redevelopment work is complete.
