Cash haul and cannabis seized in Newcastle drugs bust

Police have seized a large sum of cash and cannabis in a drugs operation in Newcastle, Co Down.

Officers swooped on the property on Burrendale Park and forced their way in to find the drugs, thought to be valued around £4,000.

Police urged for anyone with information about drug supply in their area to contact local officers.

"These people supply drugs in your area, to your young people and to those most vulnerable amongst us," said an officer.

"They pay no tax on this income, and quite often don't have a job other than their lucrative drug dealing business. Their sole business is only to supply the dangerous illegal drugs and line their pockets at the same time.

"These people need to be paid a visit by ourselves to help prevent this activity on your doorstep. To prevent them by-passing the laws we all are governed by.

"These finds are not ours; they are yours thanks to all that you share with us and our partner agencies."

Three men aged 35, 32 and 24 have been arrested.
