A "significant amount of cash" stolen from an elderly man who was intending to use the money to pay for his disabled daughter's respite care has been returned.
Police in a Facebook appeal described the theft as "despicable". It was taken from the man's bag after he very briefly left it behind in a Tesco supermarket in Carrickfergus on Thursday.
Police threatened to post high quality CCTV images of the thief on social media should they not return the cash.
Chief Inspector Simon Ball confirmed on Friday the money had been returned. He said police were continuing to investigate.
