Catholic church attacked in Co Down: Crosses, statues, pews and windows damaged

A Catholic church has been attacked in Co Down.

A number of crosses, statues, pews and windows were damaged during the attack on Our Lady of the Angels in Kilkeel.

It happened between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, police said.

A nearby car was also damaged, and its windows smashed.

PSNI superintendent Simon Walls said: "Any attack on a place of worship must be condemned and we are now investigating to find those responsible.

"If you noticed any activity in this area or have any information which may be connected, please contact police in Kilkeel on the 101 non-emergency number."
