Cemetery attack: Belfast toddler targeted in race hate incident

A toddler has been targeted in a race-hate incident in Northern Ireland.

It happened at around 12.15pm on Monday on the Falls Road near to Milltown Cemetery.

The 18-month-old child was in the presence of his mother at the time.

The attack was carried out by a woman in her late forties/ early fifties, who was 5'7'' in height with auburn shoulder length hair who was wearing a long skirt or maxi dress which was blue/purple in colour.

The incident has been condemned by local Sinn Fein MP Paul Maskey.

“I strongly condemn what is believed to be a hate crime involving an 18-month-old toddler in west Belfast," he said.

"There can be no place for racism or any other forms of discrimination in our society.

“I would urge anyone with information on this incident to bring it forward to the PSNI."

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact the PSNI on 101, quoting the serial number 984 with the date 26/06/2018.
