Cider bottle broken over man's head, court is told

A man was beaten and had a bottle smashed over his head after three intruders broke into his Co Fermanagh home, the High Court has heard.

Prosecutors claimed the attack followed Facebook demands from one of the accused about drink left at the victim's house. He sustained a head wound requiring up to eight staples, a judge was told.

Patrick McMulkin (20) faces charges of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, disorderly behaviour and aggravated burglary at the property close to his own home at Sallys Wood in Irvinestown. He is further accused of possessing an offensive weapon with intent, having class B and C drugs, assault on police and criminal damage.

During a bail application it was claimed three men entered the victim's home and ran at him on August 4 last year.

It was claimed that McMulkin broke a cider bottle over the injured party's head.

Adjourning the bail application, the judge requested more information on any underlying issues affecting the accused.
