City Cemetery sex attack: Police appeal for woman who helped victim to get in touch

Police wish to speak with a woman who went to the aid of a girl who was the victim of a sex attack in Belfast City Cemetery.

In the early hours of Saturday, May 30, a teenage girl was approached by an unknown man in the grounds of the graveyard and sexually assaulted.

The suspect is described as being aged in his 40’s, of medium build and clean shaven with short black hair.

Detectives are particularly keen to speak with a woman who assisted the girl after the assault.

The woman is described as being aged in her 30’s or 40’s, with blonde hair tied up in a ponytail and wearing some type of uniform.

She was driving a red coloured car and stopped with the girl on the Falls Road in the west of the city and gave her a lift to the Downpatrick area.

Detective Sergeant Gary Chambers is appealing for the woman or anyone with information about the incident to contact them at Public Protection Branch in Ladas Drive on the non-emergency number 101.
