A major performance bringing together DJs, live vocalists and classical musicians is set to hit Londonderry this summer.

Attendees at the Lush! Classical event will get to enjoy a mash-up of classical and dance music performed by top international talent.

The concert will be a collaboration between the Ulster Orchestra, the Lush! nightclub, Brothers in Rhythm, Kylie Minogue's musical director Steve Anderson and top international DJ Dave Seaman alongside Lush! co-founder Col Hamilton.

The musical scores will be written by Cliff Masterson, composer, orchestrator and string arranger who works with such artists as Little Mix and Emeli Sandé.

At previous events, attendees have been treated to a selection of floor fillers from the past 20 years. A total of 75 musicians from the Ulster Orchestra will take part.

The event was first held in October 2016 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lush! nightclub in Portrush. The event will take place in Derry's Ebrington Square on July 21, 2018.

Thousands of people will fill a specially erected marquee, decked out with an epic sound system, and light and laser show designed for music lovers of all ages to enjoy the soundtrack of their lives.

Col Hamilton said the events had so far "exceeded anything any of us could have hoped for".

"The mix of local musicians, world-renowned producers, DJs, and the entire production team has made this event something truly special that we just had to take on the road," he said.

"We have been approached by venues across Ireland - but to play in Derry/Londonderry, close to our hometown of Portrush and a city whose clubbers have supported Lush! for years felt absolutely right."

Peter Wilson, owner of Lush! and Kellys Complex in Portrush, commented: "I am delighted that we are doing the first of what we hope will become a series of events.

"We feel there has been a complete renaissance of the 35-plus clubber - those who don't necessarily want to go to nightclubs every week but will come out to enjoy music from their younger days and enjoy it to the max.

"We had people age 18-65 enjoy our last two events, and we expect that this event will be no different."

Steve Anderson said: "The Lush Classical events are completely surreal. They are brilliant, emotional, uplifting and perfectly executed by the most incredible team."

Tickets for the event will go on sale this Friday, February 16, and will be available to purchase through Ticketmaster, the Kellys Portrush website and Cool Discs in Foyle Street in Derry.
