Club bouncer’s attacker jailed

A 28-year-old man who kicked a bar doorman in the face before stamping on his head in an unprovoked attack outside a nightclub has been jailed for two years.

The doorman sustained a double fracture of the lower jaw when he was pushed, punched and kicked to the ground by Kevin Ward, of no fixed abode.

Ward, together with another man, attempted to barge their way into Pepe's Nightclub on Londonderry’s Strand Road on April 14, 2008.

The victim has since made a full recovery.

Ward faces a further three years’ probation on release.
