Cod Father hit by £1,500 fine
The owner of a west Belfast fish and chip shop has been fined a total of £1,500 for food safety offences.
Gerard Corrigan, owner of The Cod Father on the Falls Road, was also ordered to pay costs of £66 in relation to three offences.
Belfast City Council said the charge arose after one of its environmental health officers carried out a routine food safety inspection on January 18 last year.
A Belfast City Council spokesman said: “Poor standards of cleanliness and food hygiene were found throughout the premises. A large build-up of stale grease, food and food residue was found on the floors and equipment.”
A council representative confirmed to the court that conditions at the premises had subsequently improved to their satisfaction, but that the premises had now closed.
