Coleraine puts best foot forward with new guided walks initiative

By Colin O'Carroll

A council has launched a campaign to encourage people to go out walking to enjoy the summer.

Coleraine mayor George Duddy said the new guided walks programme offers expert routes around stunning locations.

He added: "Many people probably do not realise the wealth of interest and good walking there is to be had in the Coleraine Borough and this programme is a good way to find out more.

"It's also an opportunity for walking enthusiasts and those who walk less often to go somewhere different, meet new people and have fun learning about their area".

The council's marine manager Mark Strong called on people to register for the campaign at Portrush Town Hall next Thursday from 6.45pm

He said: "The walks provide an ideal opportunity to get active and keep fit this summer, whilst enjoying the scenery and learning about the heritage and biodiversity of our local area."

For further information on the range of walks, please contact Coleraine Borough Council's countryside and marine manager on 028 7034 7234 or Coleraine's Tourist Information Centre on 028 7034 44723.
