Collection of signed Seamus Heaney books up for auction
A collection of rare, signed and dated books by Nobel Prize-winning poet Seamus Heaney will be sold at auction next month.
More than 50 books by the Co Londonderry writer, who died aged 74 in 2013, are set to go under the hammer at Victor Mee Auctions in Co Cavan on May 8 and 9.
The Irish Connections Collectors sale includes one of 50 deluxe printed copies of Heaney's The Door Stands Open: Czeslaw Milosz 1911-2004; a rare signed first edition of his 2006 book of poems, District and Circle, and a limited first edition of The Riverbank Field from 2007.
There is also a signed copy of Heaney's selection of poems with Derek Mahon, In Their Element, and a signed and dated copy of Place and Displacement: Recent Poetry of Northern Ireland from 1985.
