Controlled blast on recovered cash box

The Army carried out a controlled explosion yesterday on a cash box stolen in a recent west Belfast robbery.

It is believed the box may have been stolen in the armed robbery of a cash in transit van on Andersonstown Road on Wednesday when a man armed with a hammer got out of a silver car and made off with a box containing cash.

The security alert in the Fort Street area ended last night, and the cash box was removed for further examination.
