Controlled explosion carried out on Second World War munition in Co Down

Army bomb disposal officers have carried out a controlled explosion on a suspected Second World War era munition which washed up on a Co Down beach.

The suspected piece of military munition washed up on Millisle Road in Donaghadee on Sunday.

There are no suspicious circumstances.

The Army bomb squad have removed the item and left the scene.
