By Claire Williamson

A man has died after being struck by a car in Cookstown.

Police named the pedestrian as 57-year-old Brian McGinn. It is believed Mr McGinn walked from the direction of Cookstown when he was struck by a red Mercedes car at around 11.45pm on the Lissan Road.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident.

Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time leading up to the collision and who may have seen Mr McGinn to contact them.

Officers are also keen to speak with the driver of a dark coloured car, possibly a Volkswagon, which is reported to have passed the scene of the collision shortly before it occurred.

Constable Nick Browne has appealed for anyone with any information to contact officers at the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
