Councillor condemns shooting in Dungannon

By Adrian Rutherford

A masked gang threatened a man before firing a shot at him.

The sinister incident occurred in the Fairmount Estate area of Dungannon.

A 30-year-old man was walking towards Ballygawley Road around 12.30am on Friday morning when he was approached by four masked men who threatened him before one of them fired a shot at him. The man was not injured and made off along the Ballygawley Road.

Sinn Fein councillor Dominic Molloy said: "There seems to have been recent disturbances and an element of criminality and intimidation in the estate in recent months. It is surprising because there hasn't been any instances of escalation of incidents actually using firearms.

"We would totally condemn any element of intimidation, or attacks on anyone in the estate, and we call on anyone involved to get off the backs of the people."
