Courts: Man who indecently assaulted two of his girl cousins jailed for four years

By George Jackson

A 32-year-old man who indecently assaulted two female cousins has been jailed for four years at the Crown Court in Londonderry.

Patrick Mark Cunning, whose address was given in court papers as Dunlade Road in Greysteel, was convicted by a jury earlier this month of indecently assaulting his first victim in August 2008 when she was aged 13. He pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting the girl's 18-year-old cousin in January 2013.

Jailing Cunning for four years, Judge Donna McColgan QC also imposed an Sexual Offender's Prevention Order on him for 10 years. Judge McColgan said the abuse had had a profound impact on the two victims and that Cunning's offending was a breach of trust.
