A 19-year-old man who died in a car accident near Dungiven on Sunday has been named as Colin Archibald, from Drumsurn.

Mr Archibald - a cousin of Sinn Fein MLA Caoimhe Archibald - died in a single-vehicle incident on the Feeney Road.

Sinn Fein councillor Brenda Chivers said the whole community was stunned.

"He was a well-liked, friendly young man, who always had a kind word for everyone he met," she said.

"Drumsurn is a small village, and everyone is devastated by Colin's death. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

SDLP councillor John Deighan said the community was in shock.

"It's a tragedy. Another young life gone too soon," he said.

Mr Archibald's funeral takes place tomorrow, with 11am Requiem Mass in St Matthew's Church, Drumsurn.
