Crumlin family living in fear after car set alight

By David Young

An arson attack has left a Co Antrim family living in fear.

Mechanic David Moore and his family were in their home at Glenavy Road in Crumlin on Saturday night when they heard a loud bang as their car outside went up in flames.

A house window was damaged as the car blaze took hold.

Local Sinn Fein councillor Anne Marie Logue condemned the attack.

"This was a cowardly attack on a family home in the early hours of the morning, putting the lives of the occupants at serious risk while they slept," she said.

Mr Moore is well known in the Crumlin/Glenavy area, and works from home as a mechanic.

Ms Logue added: "The victims of this despicable arson have lost their family car, suffered fire damage to their home and have been severely traumatised as a result.

"It's been very shocking for the family. Thank God no one was injured."
