Crusaders drop Windsor Park action
Crusaders have withdrawn their Judicial Review over their development of Windsor Park after striking a deal with the Irish Football Association.
The Shore Road side have shelved the legal taken against the Department of Culture Arts and Leisure having been assured by the IFA that there will be an increase in the funding to be made available to NIFL (Northern Ireland Football League) from 2015.
A joint statement signed by Crusaders chairman Stephen Bell and Irish FA chief-executive Patrick Nelson read: "NIFL will manage the division and distribution of this finance, in order to support sporting integrity and competitive balance within the Premier League.
"In addition, the IFA will constitute a "whole game" consultation process with the senior, intermediate, junior, women's, boy's and schools to develop a model to distribute available financial surplus generated from the 2017/18 season."
The IFA is now hoping that building work on the Windsor Park redevelopment will start later this year and that the international stadium will be completed in 2015.
