Currys removes 'Battle of the Boyne' from opening times after Sinn Fein complaint
Electrical retailer Currys has pulled the term "Battle of the Boyne" from its opening hours listings for its stores.
It comes after a Sinn Fein councillor took to Twitter to complain that the opening hours for the chain's Lisburn store had Wednesday listed as "Battle of the Boyne".
"What's wrong with "bank holiday" or Wednesday, like everyone else," said Mid and East Antrim councillor Patrice Hardy.
The company responded saying this was wording pulled from a generic calendar.
"I do hope no offence was caused," said a spokeswoman.
The wording was later changed to "bank holiday".
"Thanks to @curryspcworld @knowhowtohelp for changing this promptly on all the sites throughout the 6 counties," tweeted councillor Hardy.
Currys PC World has been asked if it would like to add to the responses.
Not sure why this was wrote Patrice. I do hope no offense has been caused. - Leanne S— KNOWHOW support (@knowhowtohelp) July 12, 2017
