Cyclist killed in Newry crash named

A cyclist killed in a road collision in Newry on Thursday night has been named by police as John Paul McKevitt.

The 34-year-old man from the Newry area died in hospital of his injuries following a collision on the northbound carriageway of the A1 on Thursday night.

A 35-year-old man who arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Officers from the PSNI collision investigation Unit continue to appeal for witnesses to contact them. The number to call is the non-emergency number 101.
