The north coast is the setting for two popular events next weekend.

Funded by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, the North West Pipe Band Championships will be staged in Portrush and the Highland Dancing Championships in Portstewart.

On Friday, August 2, the dancing championship is taking place at Agherton Parish Centre, starting at 10am.

On Saturday the pipe band and drum major championships are at Landsdowne Crescent car park in Portrush from 11.30am.

The events will culminate that evening with a parade in the town, running from Landsdowne Crescent to Causeway Street.

Both events have been organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland branch, the governing body that oversees pipe band competitions.
