Daughter 'assaulted her mother in car row'

A woman allegedly attacked and punched her own mother after celebrating her 21st birthday in an argument over a car, a jury has heard.

Belfast Crown Court heard that in the early hours of February 19 last year, alleged victim Michelle Beck came home to find her car was missing.

Knowing that her daughter Victoria Spence was the only one with the keys, Mrs Beck phoned and texted her.

Prosecution lawyer Judith Lowry said Mrs Beck was "annoyed and concerned".

Mrs Beck said the alleged assault happened when the car, driven by Spence's boyfriend, was returned. The mother said she was "grabbed by the hair and punched" when she asked for her keys.

Spence (22), with an address next door to her mother at Castle Road in Ballynure, denies one count of causing actual bodily harm and one of resisting police.

Having called the police, it was while on the phone to her own mother that Mrs Beck alleged she was assaulted again by Spence.

The trial continues.
