A woman whose body was recovered from Carrickfergus Marina on Mother's Day has been named locally as Denise Glenn.

It is understood Ms Glenn, who was from the Ballymoney area, went missing while on a weekend shopping trip to the town on Saturday.

Her body was found the following day. A post-mortem examination is due to take place, although it is understood police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Ballymoney councillor Darryl Wilson said that the town had been "plunged into sadness" with news of Ms Glenn's death.

"Denise was a lovely girl, well-known in the local area. She will be very sadly missed by her family, friends, work colleagues and the entire community," he said. "Can I pass on my deepest sympathies to all impacted by this awful tragedy."

Tributes were paid to Ms Glenn on social media. Judith McCaw wrote: "Such sad news, Denise was a lovely woman."
