Debate with a difference as MLAs discuss what songs to sing on Dublin bus trip

By Claire Williamson

It was a debate with a difference today in Stormont's finance committee as they pondered what song to sing on a bus trip to Dublin.

Stormont's Finance Committee were discussing how they would get to a meeting with the Irish parliament's Public Accounts Committee.

The clerk of the committee asked whether the MLAs required a mini-bus to get there.

However Sinn Fein's Máirtín Ó Muilleoir said he would prefer to get the train.

But prompting a brief debate Ulster Unionist Leslie Cree said in a bid to save costs - members should travel together by bus.

Mr Ó Muilleoir then asked if Mr Cree knew "any good songs for the route"  which they could sing on the bus.

To which DUP's Jim Well suggested, "The Sash".
