Deported man was supplying heroin
A 24-year-old Lithuanian national who was in Northern Ireland illegally has been remanded in custody after admitting to supplying heroin.
Thomas Jokubauskas, of no fixed abode, appeared in the dock of Belfast Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to supplying the Class A drug on September 24, 2013.
He also admitted a charge of obstructing a PSNI constable on the same date.
A Crown prosecutor told the court that in May 2009 Jokubauskas was caught with a Class A drug at Heathrow Airport and, after spending time in a young offenders centre, he was deported from the UK on November 12, 2010.
This, she said, meant he was in Northern Ireland illegally when he was caught with heroin in Belfast last September.
After the guilty pleas were entered, Jokubauskas's barrister asked that the case be adjourned to allow for the preparation of pre-sentence reports.
A plea and sentence is due to be heard in front of Judge Donna McColgan next month.
