Derry Girls pay tribute to journalist
The cast and creator of the Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls said they were "devastated" by the murder of journalist Lyra McKee.
Writer Lisa McGee called the shocking news "sickening, shameful and heartbreaking" on Twitter yesterday.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays the role of Clare, said: "I'm so devastated for the people of Derry tonight, God love that poor young woman and those close to her."
She went on to share a video of Ms McKee's talk at the TEDxStormont event in Parliament Buildings in 2017.
"Watch this in memory of Lyra McKee," she said.
"You'll see an eloquent, funny, caring young woman whose life was ripped away from her far too soon."
Siobhan McSweeney, who plays Sister Michael, said: "My sincerest condolences to Lyra McKee's family and friends. And my finest sneering contempt for the people who have done this."
