Derry homes plan sparks row
One of the most most spectacular views of Londonderry is set to be lost after planners approved a controversial housing development – despite fierce opposition from residents and politicians.
Planning Service permission for 20 split level houses at Dunfield Terrace in the Waterside area was granted – even though the Department of the Environment received 276 objections.
Residents argued there will be a serious impact on the sewerage system, an increase in traffic congestion and the loss of one of the best views of the city.
Felicity McCall, who lives in Dunfield Terrace, said: "To say we were shocked to hear that the planners have recommended this development for approval is an understatement."
