By Brendan McDaid

The PSNI in Foyle is searching for a “fat-faced” sex attacker who assaulted a woman in Londonderry city centre.

The indecent assault occurred between 2.30am and 3am on Sunday in the Magazine Street area.

Police said the 22-year-old woman was walking along the street when she was grabbed by the assailant and sexually assaulted.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: “The woman managed to break free and run off.

“The male is described as being in his early to mid-20s, 6ft 2in tall, muscular build with a fat face, tanned skin and dark hair.

“He was wearing a blue coloured T-shirt and possibly blue jeans.

“He has a tribal-style tattoo on his inner right forearm. He had a local Derry accent,” she added.

Police are asking anyone who may be able to help identify the male or who may have seen him in the city during the early hours of Sunday morning to contact them on 0845 600 8000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
