Detectives draw a blank in search for missing man

By Staff Reporter

Police searching a property as part of an investigation into the disappearance of a man 10 years ago have found nothing untoward.

Gerard Conway was last seen in the Cookstown area at the end of January 2007.

He was reported missing a short time later, but despite extensive inquiries by police over a number of years, no clues to his whereabouts have been discovered.

Detectives from the PSNI's serious crime branch searched an address at Battery Road in Ardboe, Cookstown, yesterday.

They said the operation followed new information provided to the investigation team.

Specialist resources were deployed, including victim recovery dogs and ground penetrating radar.

A PSNI spokesman said "nothing untoward was found" during the search.

Mr Conway was 32 when he was reported missing on January 25, 2007.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Talbot, leading the investigation, said Mr Conway's disappearance "continues to cause heartache and uncertainty for his family and friends, who are heartbroken at not knowing what has happened to him."
