The Police Ombudsman's office has appealed for witnesses to come forward after video footage emerged of a PSNI officer appearing to drop a gun magazine clip in Lurgan.

The video was widely circulated on social media and appears to show an object fall to the ground while a PSNI officer bends to get underneath a police cordon. He picks it up and goes to continue on.

However, those gathered around the scene can be heard shouting that the man has "dropped bullets".

Another officer can then be seen gesturing to the officer at something on the ground. The officer returns and picks up something before moving on.

The incident happened on Thursday October 18 at the railway crossing at William Street in the centre of Lurgan. Police had been called to the scene after a man died after he was hit by a train.

The Police Ombudsman's office has asked anyone with information to phone 0800 032 7880.
