Do you have Northern Ireland ugliest bathroom? Own up and you could win a £10,000 makeover

By Stephanie Bell

A search to flush out Northern Ireland's worst bathroom has been launched on social media.

Bassetts is calling for people to find relief from their nightmare bathrooms by entering a competition to win a dream makeover for theirs.

The victor of Northern Ireland's Nightmare Bathroom Competition will receive a luxury renovation worth £10,000.

With the likes of avocado bathrooms being voted as one of the biggest turn-offs in houses in a recent survey, the local company wants to give five people a chance to bring theirs up to date.

If yours is caught in a time warp and in need of a lift, submit an image or video of it, along with a reason why you deserve a dream bathroom.

Interior designer Philip Rodgers will lead a panel of judges who will decide the top five worst bathrooms, with the public voting for the overall winner.

Philip, owner of Philip Rodgers Design in Dungannon, has worked on a number of prestigious projects including The Cloud 9 Skybar in the Hilton Prague and the Hampton by Hilton in Belfast.

He said: "People considering renovating their bathroom should look to recent trends such as wooden features, brass finishes, bold tiles and mixing dark colours and textures to create a modern bathroom that will add value to your house in 2017."

Entrance to the competition is free and entries must be submitted by April 20.

Five finalists will be selected to go through to the final round, with the winner selected by a public vote on Wednesday May 10. As well as a top prize of £10,000 bathroom makeover, four runners-up will each receive a special discount for bathrooms in any of Bassetts' Northern Ireland 13 stores.

To enter your bathroom, post your image or video on to the Bassetts' Facebook page.

You can also tweet your entry to @bassetts_ph using #NightmareBathrooms.
