North Belfast DUP Constituency Association has announced the nominees to replace Nigel Dodds and Diane Dodds on Belfast City Council.

Brian Kingston has been nominated to replace Diane Dodds as a councillor for the Court District Electoral Area. Lydia Patterson has been nominated to replace Nigel Dodds as a councillor for the Castle District Electoral Area.

An association spokesman said: “The nomination of Brian Kingston and Lydia Patterson will further strengthen the DUP team in north and west Belfast.

“Both have a track record of dedicated service to the community. North Belfast DUP has always believed in working for the people all of the time not just at election time and Brian and Lydia will continue in that tradition.

“The DUP is confident in Northern Ireland’s future that is why it is acting to tackle the issue of multiple mandates and bring a new generation of representative forward.”

Brian Kingston said: “I will be dedicated in representing the interests of local residents and in pressing for action to address the needs of the area.”

Lydia Patterson said: “Filling Nigel’s shoes will be no easy task but I will do my utmost to follow his example in service to the constituents of Castle.”
