A Flybe pilot who comes from Italy says he's been left in an impossible situation after suffering the double blow of losing his job and being unable to go back to his homeland.
The pilot, who did not wish to be named, had moved to Northern Ireland after landing his dream job with the airline.
But after the collapse of the airline last week, he is now left unable to get home to his family after flights to Italy were cancelled due to the increasing concerns over coronavirus.
"I don't know what to do or where to go," he told the Belfast Telegraph last night after supporting his work colleagues as they addressed members of Belfast City Council.
"I have a flat in Sydenham, but with no job I'm worried about being able to pay the rent.
"Now, even if I wanted to go back home, I can't.
"I feel completely let down by the situation."
