Dr John Hinds in his own words: Hear the Flying Doctor give a fascinating insight into his work

This is Dr John Hinds as so many knew and loved him.

The Northern Ireland motorcycle racing doctor, who died in a crash earlier this month, stole the show in this talk he gave at the SMACC (Social Media and Critical Care) Gold conference in Australia.

Dr John Hinds was fatally injured while providing medical cover at a Skerries 100 practice session in Dublin on July 3, and died in hospital the following day.

In the 2014 podcast above, he gives a fascinating medical perspective on high speed motorcycle racing on closed private roads across Ireland, using humour to keep the audience hooked as he describes the dangers of what he calls a "dreadfully cruel sport".

And again, in the 2015 SMACC conference in Chicago (below) - he spoke just weeks before his tragic death, giving his personal experience of resuscitating a patient.
