Driver escapes after lorry goes up in flames

By Cate McCurry

The dramatic moment a lorry burst into flames in the middle of a busy Co Fermanagh town has been captured on camera.

The Quinn Group lorry - which contained plastic material - went up in flames while making its way through Lisnaskea yesterday afternoon.

Fire crews battled to put the blaze out after the cab caught fire.

The driver had a lucky escape after he spotted smoke coming from the engine.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said they are treating the incident as accidental.

Owen Mooney who captured the footage on his phone said that he heard three "explosions".

"There was one explosion whenever the fire brigade was here - it was probably the tyres exploding because of the fire," he said.

"Thankfully everybody's okay."
