Driver killed in accident named

The 23-year-old man who was killed in a road accident in Downpatrick on Saturday has been named as Conor Kirton.

Mr Kirton, from Crossgar, was travelling alone in his Peugeot 206 when it crashed off the Belfast Road close to the old Abbey Lodge Hotel at around 7.30am on Saturday.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Police have appealed to anyone in the area at the time who saw Mr Kirton’s car travelling between Crossgar and Downpatrick to contact them.
