Driver 'lucky to walk away' after plank of wood smashes through windscreen in Lisburn crash

Police have said the driver of a car involved in a crash in Lisburn is "lucky to have walked away unscathed" following a two vehicle crash.

The crash happened on Friday at 10.40am on the Rock Road Lisburn.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended to the report of a number of injuries which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

A photograph of the white van, which was posted on PSNI Facebook page shows two large pieces of timber smashing through the front.

One had smashed through the windscreen at the driver side and the other had gone through the bonnet.

Police said they would like to remind all road users of the need to drive with due care and attention at all times.
