Drugs haul prompts crackdown

BY Adrian Rutherford

Police have warned they are determined to clamp down on drug dealing after £6,000 worth of cocaine was seized in east Belfast.

Three men were arrested after PSNI officers raided a house in the Marlfield Drive area of the Braniel estate on Friday.

Two of the men arrested were aged 33. The other man was 41.

The trio were held on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

They were later released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police said cash and drugs paraphernalia were also seized.

A number of follow-up searches took place.

Chief Inspector Derek Martin, the area commander for Castlereagh, said tackling drug dealers is a priority for his officers.

"Through seizures of this nature, we are reducing the harm that is caused to the community," he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the PSNI.
