Drunk hotel guest Doherty fined for disorderly behaviour

By Nevin Farrell

A man got so drunk at a wedding party in a Ballymena hotel that he couldn't remember how he ended up at another hotel, where he became disorderly.

Declan Doherty (38), of Ballyscullion Road, Bellaghy, had gone to a wedding at the Tullyglass House Hotel, but later police were called to the Galgorm Resort & Spa where he was drunk and abusive.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court yesterday he pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly behaviour and resisting police on August 12 this year.

A defence lawyer said his client had no recollection, but he was taking full responsibility and wished to apologise for the incident. He said the defendant had taken a tablet for a headache which must have mixed with the alcohol and he didn't know how he got to Galgorm.

District Judge Peter King fined Doherty £300.
