Dunmurry hijacking: Thug armed with knife forces woman out of her car

A man armed with knife forced a woman out of her car in the Dunmurry area of west Belfast on Thursday.

The incident happened on the Colinwell Road shortly before 9pm.

Police say the female driver of a silver Hyundai was approaching the roundabout on the Brianswell Road to turn right onto Colinwell Road when two men crossed in front of her vehicle, causing her to stop.

One of the men got into the passenger seat. He produced a knife and told her to get out of her car, which she did. The second man got into the back of the car. They then made off in her vehicle.

The car was later found burnt out in the Moyard Parade area of Belfast.

The woman was not injured during this incident, however she was left badly shaken.

Detective Inspector Martin Cummings appealed to anyone who may have observed this incident or who has any information to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Lisburn on the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively they can give information anonymously on 0800 555 111.
