Election posters belonging to a serving DUP councillor were burnt on a bonfire in Londonderry on the Eleventh Night.

Alderman David Ramsey represents the Waterside area on Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Posters used by Mr Ramsey for May's local government elections were put on the Eleventh Night bonfire in the Newbuildings area.

Newbuildings is in the Waterside area of Derry, the area Mr Ramsey represents.

He has served on the council since he was first elected in 2014. Mr Ramsey took the final seat in May's council elections.

A number of Irish tricolours were also placed on the bonfire alongside starry plough flags.

The bonfire also had boards painted with the messages "#Lundy", "#Hatewatch" and "No intimidation, no surrender".

The DUP has been approached for comment.
