Eamonn Holmes 'can't wait' to host Prince's Trust Celebrate Success awards

Eamonn Holmes has spoken of how thrilled he is to be part of the Prince's Trust Celebrate Success awards, which will be held in Belfast later this month to recognise young people's remarkable achievements in the face of adversity.

The broadcaster will host the Belfast Telegraph-backed 2013 awards ceremony at The Mac arts centre on November 15.

Last night Eamonn, who is a Prince's Trust ambassador, told this newspaper he was proud of his association with the youth charity and wished all the inspiring finalists the best of luck.

"Many of them have faced unbelievable challenges but have shown remarkable determination and hard work to turn their lives around," he said.

"I have been lucky enough to meet some of the young people who have got their lives back on track with help from the trust, so have seen first-hand how vital the youth charity's work is – not just here in Northern Ireland but across the whole of the UK.

"I am proud to be an ambassador for the Prince's Trust and cannot wait to help celebrate the achievements of these incredible young people."

The Belfast Telegraph has been highlighting the achievements of some of the nominees. The seven categories recognising the achievement of young people are:

  • Shred Bank Educational Achiever of the Year for young people who have been on a Prince's Trust Fairbridge or xl programme.
  • The HSBC Breakthrough Award recognises the progress of young people who have developed new skills and stabilised their lives.
  • The Moy Park Community Impact Award marks the positive contribution young people make in their local community.
  •  Devenish Nutrition Flying Start Award recognises the young people who have overcome obstacles to sustain employment after a Prince's Trust programme.
  • The Ulster Bank Enterprise Award is for young people who have overcome adversity to create a sustainable business or social enterprise.
  • Titanic Quarter Ltd Young Ambassador of the Year recognises those who volunteer their time and share personal experiences to help others.
  • Samsung Young Achiever of the Year honours those who have transformed their lives following difficulties.
