Eamonn Holmes is grounded as fog leads to cancelled flights

By Lisa Smyth

Broadcaster Eamonn Holmes was caught up in travel chaos yesterday as heavy fog led to cancelled flights between Northern Ireland and England.

EasyJet flights from Belfast International Airport and Gatwick were cancelled or delayed.

Flights between Heathrow, London City, Manchester and the Isle of Man to Belfast City Airport were also badly disrupted.

Sky News presenter Eamonn Holmes said the fog meant his flight from Belfast to Heathrow was cancelled. He tweeted: "Cancelled on British Airways then Flybe. Everything else full. Not getting out of Belfast. Ah well there are worse things in life."

The Met Office warned heavy fog could remain across the south of England until about noon.
