By Nevin Farrell

Armed robbers who took cash and cigarettes from a business in east Belfast on Friday night may have completed their escape on bicycles.

Detectives are appealing for information after a report of an armed robbery at the business premises in the Beersbridge Road area.

Shortly before 9pm on Friday two masked men entered the premises, both with suspected firearms.

A female member of staff was threatened during the incident but was not harmed.

The men made off with money and cigarettes.

A police spokesman said they are believed to have made off towards Hyndford Street on foot before possibly making off towards the Beersbridge Road on bicycles.

One of the suspected robbers is described as 5ft7in and was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top, with blue gloves, grey trousers and trainers.

The other man is described as 5ft, wearing a dark top, possibly a jacket, and grey trainers with white edging.
